Sculptures

Being influenced by Africa where Alain Charles Chayer resided many years, he has created sculptures mainly made out of ebony.
This dark wood, dense, heavy, difficult to work with fascinated him.
These pieces are made of full wood trunks in which he incorporates an optical element that intrigues and attracts. Gold leaf decors contrast with the shade of the wood. Mysterious forest of Africa!
Other pieces are made of floating woods, mainly “Okoume” and “Iroko”. They were rejected by the ocean onto the shores of Gabon’s coast, after being sculpted by it.
Alain Charles Chayer achieved what the ocean had started playing with colors, gold leafs and subtle patina.
